  • A mobile phone bill shock

Shit...yes...shit...I am blogging from Singapore.  I have been here for a week...it's just so boring here.  So what did I do?  Yes, I decided to use global roaming to call KL on a daily basis...voice call also not enough, have to video call...

Now the verdict is out.  My phone line got barred and I owe the mobile company RM1800.  Great!  Now is June, not December leh...where got money to pay?  Bonus must wait till end of the year leh....

Sob sob...1800 bucks just for one week's global roaming...I am going crazy....crazieeeeeee

  • the abyss

Step by step, I try to climb out of the abyss...this black hole which has been sucking the life out of me.  Though the journey's not easy and extremely painful, I have faith that I will be able to make my way out.  I have done it once, I will do it again.  Thank you friends for all your support.

  • The English Auction

There is the English auction and the Dutch auction.  Of course, there are many more.  However, I will only talk about these two as they are the easiest to understand.  Let's start with the English auction.  In the English auction, bidders bid for an item by increasing the price which they are willing to pay for that item.  How much is ever enough?  How much are you willing to sacrifice in order to get something?  You may be very desperate for something and in the short-term, out of desperation, you sacrifice more than what you can actually tolerate...how will this affect you?  You will be stressed in the long term because your tolerance level has a limit...how long can you tolerate?  Everyday you give in and tolerate, but is this your natural self?  Why do you want to make yourself suffer like that?  It is obvious that you have overpaid/over-sacrifice for something which does not deserve so much attention.

On the other hand, we have the Dutch auction.  In the Dutch auction, the price of the item starts high and slowly decreases.  The first person who bids win the item.   Again there is a dilemma.  How long should you wait?  You can wait and wait, but once someone jumps in first, you can say bye bye to your item.  How long should I wait?  How much lower must the price go before I make my bid?

    Argghhhh....dilemma dilemma...heart broken.

  • random thoughts

    1) Last year, same date, same time, I was in Brisbane...excitingly awaiting the results of the general election.....one year later, here I am, sitting in my room on a Sunday afternoon wondering what to do next.

    2) Listening to a song 'Goodbye'...a phrase just struck me...."when tears don't flow anymore, it's time to let go".

    3) Choices choices choices...sometimes you just get so sick of it.  Too many choices and you end up in multiple dilemmas...should I take it?  Will opportunity knock twice?  Whatever decision I make, I'm glad that today at the age of 28, I am able to say, I achieved it.

    4) Trips....aren't trips supposed to recharge your batteries and make you happier? How come after I returned from Hong Kong, I end up being more depressed?  Thank you Marco, Frances, Max, Vincy, and Hillary for making my HK trip such a memorable one...it will definitely be listed as one of my best trips ever.  Treasure the time we could spend together...getting together again like this may not be feasible in the future.

    5) Another big bomb to my wallet soon....received a call from Raymond, my Australian fren this morning...seems that lab values are not good...probably need to do another round of chemo in April...will try to book a ticket to Brisbane in Aug or Sept...Raymond, please wait for me.....

    6) Leveling...what a common term these days...I'm so tired of it...whether me being leveled or me leveling another party.  Frustration...that's the word...I don't think I'm so worthless...therefore, I guess I will quit from this game for the time being.

    7) Wrote two newspaper articles...wonder when it will be published.

    8) Glad that I'm included in a national study...this is make or break time....no room for failure.  I won't disappoint.

    9) It's time to pick myself up, refocus, and move on.

  • Impulsive purchase

I made a rather impulsive decision today...I think I must be slightly crazy.  Anyway, nowadays I'm getting quite crazy or spontaneous, oh whatever...I just went online and bought tickets to Hong Kong.  I chose 7th of Feb to depart from KL and will be in HK till the 14th of Feb - hey, that's Valentine's day, I wonder if I will be lucky there...haha.

Made a phone call to Marco and told him that I will be bunking in with him throughout the week.  He sounded pretty excited over the phone -  we haven't been seeing each other since I left Brisbane.  Hmm...I will be able to meet up with Frances, Ming, and Vincy too.  Visiting HK will be step 1 in my travelling plans.  I still have Taiwan and Japan to visit in the near future, I hope.

I have already made up my mind to hit a few places in HK.
    1) Disneyland
    2) Ocean Park
    3) Women Street
    4) Dai Yu Shan
    5) Victoria Peak
    6) Dine at Janbo Floating Restaurant
    7) Go to Macau (I wonder if I could afford to stay at the Venetian for a night)
    8) Go to Shenzhen (hmm...this will depend again on my spontaneity at that time)
    9) Lan Kwai Fong

Well, I'll leave it in Marco's hands to bring me to more interesting places...he probably knows better.  Oh ya, if I'm not mistaken, Marco is staying at Gold Coast, Hong Kong.  Yup, you read that right...it's Gold Coast in Hong Kong and not the one in Queensland.  One week staying with a Hong Kong family...will get to experience first-hand what their life is like.  I wonder if they play mahjong...hahaha...can exchange some kung-fu.  Well, I'm pretty excited myself...next week is CNY and just 2 weeks after that, time for my wonderful trip.

    I LOVE TRAVELLING!!!

  • This blog will not perish...

Within this blog lies the happenings and memories over the past few years.  My year and a half expedition in Australia is more or less chronicled here.  This blog won't perish...I will not let this blog disappear.  This blog holds too much memories...the song forever etched in my head.

I have just woke up after a chit-chatting session with the rest of the guys yesterday night.  Today we intend to hit Ministry of Sound in the evening.  There will be some kind of dance competition there.  After that, it's Quattro time...Lok's birthday.  Hmmm...nothing much to look forward to at Quattro.  Know that it's VERY packed...I wonder why it was selected as a birthday venue.  Well, it's time for me to take a bath...time to start this brand new day as fresh as I can.

  • E-lin's wedding

Went to Ipoh over the weekend to attend my cousin's wedding at Casuarina.  The food was not that great...probably because the hotel or more specifically the restaurant in the hotel did not cater much to a Chinese crowd.  Met up with my relatives whom I only see once in a blue moon.  The next morning, I drove up to Taiping to attend my colleague's wedding.  It was the first time I attended a Indian wedding.  The crowd was huge.  It was my first time in Taiping too.  Nice little town although I couldn't find any good food around.

      <--- Me and my cousins.

I will be flying off to Shanghai tomorrow.  Hoping for a good trip.  Gosh, have to wake up at 4:30am tomorrow to send Pikachu to KL Sentral...and I have to work the whole day after that...and and and...my flight is at 11:30pm at night. I feel sleepy by just thinking about what I'll be going through tomorrow.  *yawn yawn*

  • East and West

*knock* *knock*...pheww...have to knock first.  Haven't access my blog for ages...guess it is being inhabited by ghosts already.  It's pretty difficult to blog on xanga nowadays.  It takes AGES, and I really mean ages to load a page.  The reason why I can access it now?  Because it's before 7am and for some reason, it loads better at this hour.

I'm feeling ecstatic these few days.  I'll be in the "Paris of the East" next week, and two weeks after that, I will be in the "Paris of the West".  Can life get any better than this?  I really feel so lucky to be travelling to these 2 great cities within a month.  Ohh, by the way, "Paris of the East" = Shanghai.  That's what they used to call Shanghai last time.  "Paris of the West" = Paris itself lar.  Gonna spend approximately a week in each of these cities.

I'm glad that Pikachu is following me to Shanghai.  It will be such an adventure there.  Plan of hitting Suzhou as well.  And of course our mission of rescuing "Black Lotus" although chances are slim.  For the Paris trip, still waiting for Bangsawan to confirm his availability.  It would be great if he could make it together with me.  Being in the City of Love alone is pretty lonely when I come to think about it.  Well, I will take lots and lots of pictures and hopefully, Xanga won't merajuk when I try to post them up here.  Ciaoz.....

  • Protected postings

Don't worry, I'm still alive.  I have been writing the previous 2 entries under protected postings coz things are pretty sensitive.  Well, only 10 readers can be authorized to view my protected postings and they have to be xanga users too (not my fault, it's xanga's fault)...so until I find something 'less' sensitive to write, I will be continuing with protected postings for a while.

  • I wonder...

Two days ago, I read an article in the newspaper about a Malaysian student who got bashed up in Melbourne by the Aussies.  This guy was apparently walking alone late at night, actually well past midnight when he was set upon by 4 Australian men.  What caught my attention wasn't the story about him getting bashed up but rather this Malaysian student is the son of the vice-chancellor of Binary University College.  Now, if the vice-chancellor of Binary University College has to send his son to Melbourne for the latter's tertiary education, how on earth is he going to convince people to study at his university college?  He sure isn't going to convince me.  It's like him inviting people to enrol and study at his college..."Come come come...world class education here...good quality education at Binary"...then when you ask, "Where is your son studying ar?" Ermm...Australia.  One question which I would definitely ask is, "Why isn't your son studying in Binary?"...hypocrite!
